First let me apologize for not updating the blog in several weeks. I'm generally pretty good about updating it, but November has been busy, busy, busy! Here are some things to keep in mind for upcoming weeks:
Food Drive- Next week kicks off our food drive. Our class has been assigned conditioner. Any and all donations are appreciated.
Christmas Party- We will not have a formal "Christmas Party." We will spend our half day on December 18 celebrating the holidays as a class. A pizza party or something similar is very likely! Instead of sending supplies, I will probably have everyone send in a couple of dollars to cover the food.
Endangered Species- If you haven't heard from the kids, we are going to adopt the arctic fox species. We have learned a lot about endangered species, and will continue to do so. Students are encouraged to bring in pocket change and small amounts of money until we raise our goal of $55. This is completely voluntary and no donation is too small. We will spend next semester learning more about the arctic fox and how it can be helped.
Earn a Free Homework Pass- This weekend I had another teacher share an idea for teaching fractions. Since we will be covering equivalent fractions for the next few weeks, I thought I better jump on it. This teacher uses play dough for kids to manipulate fractional parts. If a child brings in one regular size can of play dough for themselves, they will receive a "free time" coupon. If a child brings in a four pack of regular size play dough containers to share, they will receive a free homework pass. I will talk to them about this tomorrow too! :)
