Wow! Time sure is flying by. It is strange to think that we are already in our second semester of the year. August seems like only yesterday. I sure do miss that weather. Here are some updates for the happenings in our classroom for the new year.
Math- We are currently learning about fractions. They can be tricky at this level. If you want to review with your child, work on finding equivalent fractions or comparing fractions. We have learned to compare fractions based on benchmark numbers (1/2) and by finding common denominators.
PLEASE remember to be working on math facts. We use them all throughout fourth grade... every unit!
Family Reading Night- Our annual family reading night is coming up soon! The date is set for February 4 from 6:30-7:30. Our theme this year is "Stuart Little." I hope we will see you there.
Jefferson City Trip- The date has been set for April 6. We are limited on space for parents. If you would like to go please let me know ASAP. Parents riding the bus will be charged $15. We haven't figured out the student cost yet, but it should be $10 or less. Students will have to bring a sack lunch that day, as well as extra money for dinner that night (fast food). Departure and arrival times will be sent home later, but expect to leave before 8 am and get home after 7 pm. More detailed information and itinerary will come out in the next month or two. :)
